After stealing the limelight from Gary Neville last night with his golden football boots, adidas are capitalising on all the hype by giving us all the details on the adidas adiPower Predator Gold/Red/Black DB!
And what details they are! Far from being ‘just’ a new colourway for the adidas adiPower Predator, the adidas adiPower Predator Gold/Red/Black DB bring some special tricks of their own to the table.
The main one is the upper. Unlike the regular adiPower, the adidas adiPower Predator Gold/Red/Black DB uses a lightweight synthetic instead of adidas’ advanced Taurus leather.
Not only is this synthetic a nice alternative for those who prefer a synthetic upper, it’s actually lighter than the standard adiPower by a whole 10g, bringing the weight of the adidas adiPower Predator Gold/Red/Black DB to a mere 225g – an impressive feat for a ‘power’-style pair of football boots!
This synthetic upper is also more water resistant (not that they play many rainy games in LA!) meaning that the adidas adiPower Predator Gold/Red/Black DB stays at the minimum weight for the whole match.
Whilst some haven’t been too keen on the Gold/Red combo, we think it’s helped by the amount of black on this particular colourway.
Having the tongue and lining of the adidas adiPower Predator Gold/Red/Black DB in classic black definitely helps offset the slightly gaudy red/gold combo!
Another neat design touch is the placement of Beckham’s signature logo. The stylistic silhouette of Becks hitting a free-kick lives above the right heel counter on this model, with the left heel retaining the classic adidas logo.
adidas have also revealed that the adidas adiPower Predator Gold/Red/Black DB will hit retail in mid-July along with the rest of the adiPower line-up – meaning those who feared the would only be a limited edition need not worry.
Expect a £155/$200 price tag on these football boots when they land on store shelves!
What do you think to this colourway now you’ve seen it up close and personal?

the only reason why it’s synthetic cause they banned real leather in california 🙁
They repealed the state ban a while ago, back in 2007 I think. You definitely can buy kangaroo leather boots in California, as my favorite shops sell them.
My guess is Becks prefers his boot to be like the old Predators. More choice for us buyers, whether we want them in leather or synthetic.
Is this the first Gold boot by adidas that was released on sale? I know there was the boot Zidane wore, I seem to remember Becks having a Gold Pred as well, or am I mistaken?
wow, too wear these you have to be great at football, therese nothing worse than seeing a play in a flash pair of boots that cant play for $**t
please, release these adidas, please, i will pay anything
best looking pair of boots since the puma ferraris
these look ugly im still waiting for the black red preds to come out
zidanes gold boots never came out and beck having gold aint much as compared to having gold boots that zidane wore in a wc final
These power boots are LIGHTER than the Vapor VII’s!!! Also, these Adipowers are lighter than/around the same weight as the Elite Nike boots! Â That’s just absolutely insane if you think about it.. and at only 2/3 the price.. they’re a steal.
damn beckham looks good in a united kit
Quality!!!
Quality!!!
becks wore gold preds against france for his 100th england cap i think. although i really like these and would consider them, gold should be reserved for the massive games. this coming from a gold/black adipure 3 wearer
I just buy any boots I would like. I know I’m getting crapper but if I like them I like them. These boots are amazinin 🙂
Thanks FootyBoots. I’ve been on my tippy toes waiting to hear from you guys that they are going to be on the market. Immediately after I saw them, I loved them. 🙂

Geez these boots look so sleek! But best believe you can’t wear these if you suck balls…
