HENRY’S BOOTS HELD IN CUSTOMS

Thierry Henry found himself in a tight spot before France’s Friday night game against Uruguay.

It has been revealed over the weekend that France & Barcelona star Thierry Henry‘s football boots very nearly didn’t make it to Green Point stadium in Cape Town in time for Les Bleu’s Group A game against Uruguay.

A courier company had been enlisted with the task of fetching Henry’s boots from the airport, but found themselves at a dead end when officials informed them that the 27-kilogram (57-pound) box was detained by customs 3 hours before kick-off.

In a city wide operation involving the Traffic Department and the Police, with just an hour to go the boots finally made their way to their rightful place.

“It was a weird request. We’ve never done something like this before,” provincial traffic spokeswoman Merle Lourens told the press.

“Under the circumstances, we needed to get the game going. The guys can’t play without their football boots.”

We’re not sure whether this makes Henry’s Reebok Instante Pro boots the fastest boots at the tournament, or the slowest!

I can’t believe all this fuss about his boots. Should have kept a pair of boots with him like every other players does. Reebok probably spent more $ in shipping of this one box than the whole village on outskirts of Jahanseburg spends on food in one month.

27 KG ?? 0_0 seriously ?? thats alot for football boots. i weighed my old vapors last months nd it only came to like 700 gram, including the box and everything 0_0

Lol Hani…. He doesn’t just have one pair of boots…. He probably has like 50 pairs! Depending on how far France gets and how may games he plays, he needs to be ready if soemthing goes wrong and most pros wear a new pair of boots each or every other game

Yeah he probably has about 5 pairs of boots but they probably put other things in the box to help reduce the risk of theft at the airport. Many players boots get stolen during big tournaments and weighing the box to an odd heavy number helps reduce the risk of that.
