One of the most hotly anticipated pairs of football boots of the last few months can finally be unveiled today, as Nike presented Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo with the new Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II Safari CR7.
These bold animal-print football boots are essentially a new colourway for the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II, but Nike insist these are so much more than that.
“Designed to the Exact Specifications of Cristiano Ronaldo” is the tagline for the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II Safari CR7, and Nike say it epitomises the sentiment “Be Fast, Be Seen” – and a colourway like this makes it hard to argue with that statement!
Speaking of the colourway, we’re huge fans of the subtle ‘stripes’ that run through the spots of the design – presumably to give the boot the signature ‘flicker’ effect of the Superfly II.
Everything that you love about the standard Superfly II remains intact on the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II Safari CR7:
Two NikeSENSE studs on the toe-end of each boot, increasing by up to 3mm depending on the firmness of the turf.
Flywire attaches the soleplate to the upper to for a complete fit and lightweight construction.
An ultra-strong carbon fibre last for maximum energy return from every step and strike and enhance durability
Cristiano Ronaldo will be donning the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II Safari CR7 for the first time in the big Madrid derby on the 7th November and will be available in the shops from the 15th, with Pre-Orders starting today!
As for the more techy side of things, in the same manner as the rest of the Nike CR7 Safari range this boot is exactly the same as any other Superfly II in terms of weight and features, so it;s a relief to see that Nike have priced it accordingly at the same level as any other new Superfly II, £275/$400US.

the only other thing i like is the laces, imagine them on a different boot, kinda like the nike red laces, it would give so many boots that kick of flare.

The changes to the Vapor/Superfly range have been minimal over the last few years, its a shame that the best they can do is speckle black paint on a white background and open up “A New Range” of equipment.

This is cool. I want these shoes. The tech has been marvelous compared to other shoes in the market. Carbon fiber itself is already amazing to be implemented in such shoes. I have never heard other shoes using carbon fiber in their shoes.
Not too hurt other brands but take a look into the efforts they have done and researched to build a cleat with those kinds of out sole.

interesting that nike put the adaptive studs on these. while let’s face it: ronaldo isn’t the best adaptive studs supporter out there. ronaldinho and ronaldo (R9) got their specific boots exactly the same as the retail version.
i’ll just wait and see, if ronaldo wears different soleplate at the match. then we all know that nike put the adaptive studs on these so they could sell it for more money (it’s the most delicate type of studs IMHO -ie: most expensive)

Nike, I understand you are using these to get attention build up for the superfly III but seriously, if you could give the vapor IIIs a carbon fiber plate and make them as light as the adizeros you would please crowd much better than this crap.
