PUMA EVOSPEED 1 SL – JASMINE GREEN / WHITE

After making it’s reappearance for the special edition Ducati evoSPEED last month, the ‘SL’ edition of Puma’s speed boot look set to become a regular feature again with the release of the Puma evoSPEED 1 SL – Jasmine Green / White.

Admittedly, we’re a bit slow on getting the details on this one – Puma have had so many releases over the last couple of weeks, we’ve had trouble typing fast enough!

But we’re hoping you’ll find it worth the wait, as the Puma evoSPEED 1 SL – Jasmine Green / White is certainly a boot worth talking about.

Whilst lacking the characteristic ‘woven’ look of the Ducati release from last month, the dimpled Puma evoSPEED 1 SL – Jasmine Green / White actually manages to retain the same weight as the motorbike-inspired version.

At just 158g, the Puma evoSPEED 1 SL – Jasmine Green / White is a truly staggeringly light football boot – undercutting even the benchmark set by the adiZero by a whole seven grammes.

The upper is a monolayer synthetic microfibre – just like the standard-weight synthetic evoSPEED 1 – however, the Puma evoSPEED 1 SL‘s upper is perforated across more than 50% of the upper, resulting in a much lighter construction.

That’s not to say the boot is a compromise, though. Puma have somehow managed to squeeze a low-profile, stability-enhancing heel counter into the design, as well as the EverFit Cage to lock your feet in place.

Whilst the soleplate of the evoSPEED 1 and it’s predecessor (the Puma v1.11) couldn’t be more different, the Puma evoSPEED 1 SL – Jasmine Green / White retains the same chassis construction as the v1.11SL, right down to the carbon-fibre insert.

At £194.99/$274.99 US the Puma evoSPEED 1 SL – Jasmine Green / White are actually more expensive than the Ducati version – and many pro players ignore this model entirely, instead focusing on the ‘regular’ evoSPEED 1.
