From the streets of Rotterdam to the World Cup Final; Robin van Persie’s life has been one of those real ‘dreams-come-true’ journeys, which the Dutch international shares with us in this great new video from adidas.

Having been announced Arsenal’s new club captain in the wake of Cesc Fabregas’ departure to Barcelona, the 28-year-old takes stock of his footballing journey so far.
Along with the 2 other generations of Van Persie – father Bob and son Shaqueel – and childhood friend and top freestyle footballer Soufiane Touzani, Van Persie recalls his time from the age of 4 playing football in ‘The Cage’.
It was there that Van Persie transformed his weak left foot (he calls it a ‘chocolate leg’) into the lethal machination of goals that leaves many of the world’s best keepers stranded today in the Premier League.
Even if you’re not an Arsenal fan, it’s worth checking out some of the ludicrous freestyle skills on show from Robin and Soufiane – it makes you wonder why we don’t see more trickery from RvP in matches!
Despite being dressed in adiPower gear, van Persie opts for a classic Samba shoe – presumably it’s more like what he used to play in when he was a youngster!
Do you think van Persie is the right choice for new Arsenal captain?
Let us know in the comments!
RVP is an absolute superstar, good choice for captaincy, hope he can bring in a few trophies
